Dexta Daps was born in Seaview Gardens, Jamaica, known for reggae legends such as Shabba Ranks, Bounty Killer, Elephant Man and Garnett Silk. Growing up in the poverty stricken streets he learnt to take out his frustration the best way he knew how, through music. “I would hear the melodic voices of the kids crying for help, and the sadness of the people. Their voices, and hunger for retribution was very inspiring for me, and made me want to sing songs of happiness and joy”, declared the 28 year-old artist.

Shabba Ranks - Biography

Shabba Ranks, whose real name is Rexton Rawlston Fernando Gordon, was born on January 17, 1966 in the parish of St. Ann, Jamaica. He made his debut on Admiral Tibet‘s sound sytem Roots Melody. In 1985, he recorded his first title Heat Under Sufferers Feet under the pseudonym Co-Pilot. He got noticed by Josey Wales, who introduced him to King Jammy, always interested when a major upcoming dancehall act showed up!

Lady Saw - Biography

There are so many names for Lady Saw: The Queen of Dancehall, The First Lady of Dancehall or this latest one: Mama Saw. The latest name, however, is quite befitting at this point in her career because she is the matriarch for all female dancehall deejays, and arguably some female rappers. She is the first female deejay to win a Grammy (with No Doubt for Underneath it All, Best Performance by a Duo or Group with a Vocal), to go triple platinum (with said single), to go gold (with Vitamin C for Smile), and to headline shows outside of her native Jamaica.
