Garfield Delano Spence, hailed in the dancehall arena as Konshens never actually planned a career in music. He recalls, “At that time it was just ball game, school and girls, I never saw music as a profession”. The Sherlock/ Duhaney Park resident began his journey towards a musical career hanging out at Sugar Minott’s Black Roots recording studio with his brother Delus (Soljah). He linked with the musical family, Cash Flow who produced his first song, Guilty Riddim. Its success in Japan led to. Konshens’ popularity soaring and he toured Japan on more than one occasion. Photographer and website owner, Carlington Wilmot, eventually introduced Konshens to Natural Bridge Records and this was the turning point in his career. Konshens‘ hits have included Winner, Rasta Impostor, This Means Money, Good Girl Gone Bad (with Tarrus Riley) and Forward. He has a large fan base in Guyana and Europe, where his Gal Dem Talk single was a major hit. Konshens launched his own Subkonshus label in 2010, working with new acts including his brother Delus.
